Business Newsletter Bridges Sacred/Secular

PARoss Services newsletter has been renamed Workship (not misspelled). To talk about workship is to talk about that elusive element known in the business world as quality or excellence. Workship is the product of personal improvement, which is the foundation of process improvement. Workship is not about what people do, but how they do what they do. An investment in workship is an investment of care and concern given to every aspect of whatever job is at hand.

(PRWEB) June 20, 2005 -- Phillip A. Ross, owner of PARoss Services, has been a Christian minister for twenty-three years. But he does not currently serve a church full-time. Several years ago he started his own business. It began as a desktop publishing business because he has a lot of writing and publishing experience. He has written eight books in the last nine years (published five), and authored many business related articles. That led to copy writing, which led graphic design, which led to web design.

He then added a line of promotional products to ramp up cash flow and provide a business entry point. Over the years, the promotional products dominated the other business elements, which was not part of the original business plan. PARoss Services was launched to correct that problem by returning to core competencies.

Through his ministry he had become an accomplished public speaker, a certified Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) administrator, and a certified Prepare/Enrich marriage counselor. "These are people skills," Ross said, "which naturally translated to the world of consulting because business problems are often communication and/or people problems."

"Working on the other side of the pulpit has helped me to really understand how the Bible applies to business," said Ross. Much of what he does now is to share that understanding by speaking to business related groups about particular problems and issues they face, and suggesting comprehensive, values-based approaches to solve them.

He isn't a typical motivational speaker. He believes that it doesn't really help to pump people up emotionally because emotions rise and fall with circumstances. Emotions offer no stability for serious decision making. In contrast, Ross describes himself as a moral speaker who builds a foundation that will support positive, long-term solutions and growth - personal growth and business growth. "Moral commitment is the greatest motivator the world has ever known," he said.

He teaches that there is an important biblically-based connection between Christianity and work, and that it has been neglected by churches and businesses over the past century. That connection has been known as the Protestant Work Ethic. His website (www.paross.com) has much new content that addresses this relationship more fully.

Ross believes that the greatest asset any business has is its people. An investment in people development is the best use of resources a business can make. Grow the people and you will grow the business. In addition, solving people problems often solves business problems.

He recently added a blog that is intended to stimulate thinking about biblical solutions to contemporary problems. Ross is available as a community and business speaker.
