Controversial Author Claudette Milner Will Read Excerpts and Sign Copies of Her Book "Children of Plains Estates" at the Nile Bookstore in Philadelphia, PA June 25, 2005

Claudette Milner is a former educator and CRA officer. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

(PRWEB) June 19, 2005 -- Claudette Milner is a former educator and CRA officer. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

In a recent interview with the "Charlotte Post" Milner talks about her motivation for writing. Every child should be able to read a mainstream book and see their story,” she said.

Children of Plains Estates" is a book of inclusiveness. It crosses racial and economic lines of division. Its goal is to bring light to the struggles and victories of children. My goal is to break down the barriers that separate us by forcing the reader to confront their own stereotypes and bigotries. Aids, racism, child molestation, drugs, alcoholism, domestic violence, are not issues that happen to other people. They are issues that affect all of us. The purpose of this book is to begin the dialogue in order to confront the issues.

Betsy's Literary Page Review says, "The author brilliantly uses simplistic views and emotions of children to expose 'our' prejudices, bigotries, and unfounded apprehensions based on lack of knowledge and understanding of cultural, racial, physical, and psychological differences.

"I applaud you Ms. Milner, this novel; 'Children of Plains Estates' could easily be viewed as the poster child for diversity training. It causes one to reflect on what individual adjustments can be made to ensure peaceful harmony in the face of diversity."

In her first novel Milner tackles racism, alcoholism, spouse abuse, the educational system, and the role of the church, interracial dating, child molestation, AIDS, and other issues facing today's youth.

Milner will be in Philadelphia June 25, and 26th and will available for interviews. Her reading will be on June 24, 2005, 1-3 p.m. at the Author's Pen, Nile Bookstore, 6008 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, Pa 19144.
