Free Crochet Tutorial Videos From NexStitch.com Lure Hookers” Around the Globe

DIY Crochet Pattern Designer aims to teach the world Tunisian crochet.

Scotch Plains, NJ (PRWEB) June 20, 2005 - Amie Hirtes, owner/designer of NexStitch (http://www.nexstitch.com) released a series of free online crochet videos earlier this month in the new Tutorials” section of the site. The downloadable videos serve as a teaching tool to those interested in learning Tunisian crochet.

Also called, "afghan crochet," Tunisian is created using an extended hook and is worked in two passes, unlike traditional crochet. "It's the half-way crochet, employing both knitting and crochet techniques combined," says Hirtes who believes her site is a good educational tool.

I wanted to provide a means of teaching people about Tunisian. I spent time surveying crocheters, asking them how I could make online crochet videos better,” says Amie Hirtes, the 2002 Governors Teacher of the Year recipient. A resounding number cited audio as lacking, as well as videos for Tunisian crochet.”

With crochet currently being the hottest trend amongst fashion designers, now is the time to strike. Hirtes has released over 10 videos ranging from beginner to more advanced stitches, including the popular Bobble (Popcorn) Stitch.

Every video clip is shot close-up and is accompanied by a written description and links to featured patterns using that stitch. Videos, which vary in length from one to six minutes, can be viewed in both QuickTime and Windows Media Player formats for ease of use.

Im getting hits from Singapore to Columbia to the Netherlands on the tutorial section of my site," she said. "Ive also received lots of emails thanking me for filling the void and wanting to know whats in the works for NexStitch, videos and patterns alike.”

NexStitch.com plans to release a line of free crochet patterns early next month, and will be featured in the upcoming August edition of Family Circle Crochet magazine, as well as the next Debbie Stoller book.

I believe that my teaching experience coupled with my photography and graphic design background lends itself to a successful business in the DIY market,” Hirtes adds.

A New Jersey-based crochet designer, Amie Hirtes has been crocheting since the age of nine, when taught by her great-grandmother. With Get Hooked on Style!” as her mantra, Hirtes founded NexStitch.com in response to the lack of stylish crochet patterns on the market.
