The Grassroots Effort to Save the Cross on the Original Los Angeles County Seal Reaches Out To Pope Benedict XVI for Support

With the September 26, 2005 deadline approaching, the Committee to Support the Original Los Angeles County Seal has reached out to Vatican City to enlist the help of his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 21, 2005 -- The volunteer groups throughout Los Angeles County have been joined by various churches and parishes in the collection of petition signatures.

There is a reluctance on the part of the local "main stream" religious community to help in gathering signatures or provide support to see the effort succeed.

As more groups and organizations join the cause, the probability for success of the effort increases. The American Legion has recently endorsed the effort and will be mobilizing within a month.

The Seal Committee is experiencing an increase in support and petition gathering efforts are expanding. From the efforts of the 84 year old senior collecting signatures at her local church, to the pending effort of a group now in development to gather signatures on a grand scale with the use of "paid petition gathers," help is on the way.

With 15,000 signatures now in hand and only 97 days to gather the remaining 156,341 of the 170,606 signatures needed to qualify the measure for the June 6, 2006 ballot, the committee must see that it does all within its ability to insure that the hundreds of volunteers receive all the support which can be given.

For this reason, the Committee has sent an "open letter" to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican City, Italy. The full content of the letter can be viewed at the committee web site, www.savetheseal.net. Once received, the response will also be posted to the site.

The Committee is grateful for the past efforts of all who have chosen to participate and look forward to all those who plan to join the effort in the up coming weeks and months.

With the renewed efforts by David Horwoitz to bring awareness and support to his efforts in fighting the ACLU, David Hernandez, the Seal Committee Chairman and a co plantiff in a law suit with Mr. Horowitz, stated we are in this battle together and must stay united.
