While preparing to write "The Summer I Dared," Delinsky conducted extensive research on catching lobsters off the coast of Maine, consulting first-hand with lobstermen and digging deep into written sources to understand lobsterings daily routine, the dangers presented by violent weather, and even the frightening and all-too-real territorial lobster wars that erupt among fishermen.
