Community Technology Foundation Funds LightHouse for the Blind Access to Information Program

The Community Technology Foundation funds the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaireds new Access to Information Program (AIP) AIP technology will increase accessibility for blind and visually impaired constituents.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2005 -- The Community Technology Foundation of California (CTFC) approved a $50,880 grant to support the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired (LightHouse) in implementing the Access to Information Program (AIP), which will enable blind and visually impaired subscribers to AIP to access information more easily.

Greg Kehret, who is directing the program talks about the tremendous potential of AIP, It opens up a whole new demographic to the power of the Internet, linking that community to a wealth of information.”

The program consists of the Internet Phone Access Program (IPAP), a consumer subscription service that transforms a telephone into a tool for accessing the LightHouse website and Streaming Digital Audio Services (SDAS), where subscribers can listen to live and archived broadcasts of LightHouse audio productions from their computer. IPAP and SDAS users will be able to acquire up-to-date information on news, events and technology in the method most compatible with their needs.

Contact the LightHouse directly at 415-431-1481 if you are interested in registering for IPAP or SDAS.
