North Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2005 -- Warner Brothers new Batman Begins" was voted the best all-time Batman movie in an online survey of Batman fans by pop culture retailer WickedCoolStuff.com
Included in the survey along with the newest film in the series were the four films released from 1989-1997 and 1966s tv-inspired Batman! Starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
Batman Begins, with its more realistic" tone and focus on Batman/Bruce Wayne over the villains handily beat all the presceding films with 53% of the vote.
1) Batman Begins (2005) Christian Bale - 53%
2) Batman (1989) Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson - 23%
3) Batman! (1966 - Adam West Burt Ward) - 8%
4) Batman Returns (1992 - Michael Keaton Michelle Pfeiffer) - 7%
5) Batman Forever (1995 - Val Kilmer Jim Carrey) - 5%
6) Batman & Robin (1997 George Clooney Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 4%
It has been widely reported that the Batman films of the 90s had a decline in popularity that led to the series 8 year hiatus.
The strong appeal of the new film should breath new life into the franchise." says Brett Dewey, CEO of WickedCoolStuff.com We expected Batman Begins to be popular, but we didnt realize how enthusiastic the fan response would be"
The other big surprise was the third place finish of 1966s Batman! The theatrical release based on the popular campy 1960s tv series starred Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin beat out several of the big budget, but increasingly campy Batman films of the 1990s.
