Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 28, 2005 -- Boston Movie Tours announced today that they are bringing a slice of Hollywood to Boston. Beginning this summer, television and movie enthusiasts can experience what has been captivating film-makers for decades.

Did you know that Boston is the home of more than 400 movies and TV shows? Or that "The Firm" and "Good Will Hunting" are Boston's top U.S. box office smashes together generating almost $300 million dollars? With its unique charm and history, Boston has long been a favorite for Hollywood producers.

This July, Boston Movie Tours will unveil the Boston Movie Mile(SM) walking tour; an enthralling tour that takes guests on a journey through the most filmed parts of Boston. Featured along the Boston Movie Mile are more than 30 popular movie and TV show locations in the picturesque Beacon Hill and State House area. Finally, movie buffs can see Boston through Hollywood's eyes:

  • Learn insider information and fun facts about famed TV shows such as "Ally McBeal," "Crossing Jordan," "Boston Public" and "The Practice," or smash hit movies such as "Mystic River," "Legally Blonde," "The Firm," "A Civil Action" and "The Thomas Crown Affair."
  • Have a drink at the Bull & Finch Pub, the inspiration for Cheers.
  • Sit on the famous park bench from "Good Will Hunting."
  • Explore the street of the famous "Blown Away" runaway car crash.

"Movie buffs love to know more about their favorite films and the actors who starred in them," says Jeff Coveney, Boston Movie Tours founder. "Whether you are visiting Boston or have lived here for years, it is still a thrill to stand at the exact location where a famous movie was shot or where a movie star strolled."

"The Boston Movie Mile tour is a unique walking tour that showcases Boston as one of Hollywood's preferred locations and will help us promote Boston as a top visitor destination," commented Patrick Moscaritolo, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau.

To celebrate its launch, Boston Movie Tours is offering a 20% discount through September 2005. Adults can experience the Boston Movie Mile for $20 (Regularly $25.00) while children aged 12 or younger pay just $10 (Regularly $12.50). Students and Seniors are $17.

Later this summer, Boston Movie Tours will also offer custom Theater-on-Wheels tours for private groups. Whether it is stopping by the location of the fictitious Emerald Bar from "Mystic River" or visiting the L Street Tavern from "Good Will Hunting," these tours are perfect for private parties, family gatherings, school trips or company outings. Groups can customize Theater-on-Wheels tours to visit exclusive movie locations outside of Boston and throughout Massachusetts.

"'Good Will Hunting' fans continue to stop by our tavern," says Susan Woods, L Street Tavern owner. "This tour is a great way movie enthusiasts can get a taste of Boston movie making history."

Boston Movie Tours is family run by Boston locals, Jeff and Rachel Coveney. The idea started back in 2002 when the Coveneys visited Hawaii on their honeymoon and took the Hawaii Movie Tour. "Seeing where 'Jurassic Park' was filmed and swinging on the same rope as Harrison Ford in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' really brought the movies to life," says Rachel Coveney. "We wanted to bring that same experience to Boston."
