StorageQuest Announces REFLECTOR for Primera® - a Network Backup & Archive Solution for Small and Medium Size Businesses

Innovative solution is the first to utilize Primera CD and DVD publication equipment to offer small and medium businesses (SMBs) an unprecedented value in data protection.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) July 6, 2005 -- StorageQuest Inc., the leader in network attached optical storage management, today announced the REFLECTOR line of Network Backup & Archive solutions. This is the industrys first solution to take advantage of the off-the-shelf CD and DVD publication hardware from Primera Technology. REFLECTOR offers SMBs a feature-rich data protection solution and an information publishing solution at a cost far less than most tape solutions.

REFLECTOR is a unique solution in Windows® data protection, providing comprehensive, cost-effective, and compliant backup and recovery. Its intuitive user interface simplifies installation and management through easy-to-use wizards that configure and backup servers and networked users.

said Mark Strobel, Primera Technologys Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Backup and archival to optical media has multiple benefits over tape including lower cost, proven reliability and portability to any operating system without unique hardware or software. With the added benefit of True WORM media, all data will meet compliance regulations for unalterable data storage.
REFLECTORS Disk-to-Disc architecture is designed for businesses changing from magnetic disk/tape to optical disc backup for compliant long-term data protection. REFLECTORS long-term data protection features include file spanning, file splitting and optical disc labeling. File spanning automatically records optical discs for the backup dataset and optimally packs the data requiring the smallest number of discs. File splitting manages files larger than a piece of optical media to split across multiple discs. Split files can be restored without using the REFLECTOR software on any operating system. REFLECTOR will automatically print a full-size, full-color label on each piece of media with the information the user has specified during the setup process. Printing is automatic so each disc is easily identifiable.

REFLECTOR software, when combined with Primera Technologys Bravo II or BravoPro Disc Publisher, also enables businesses to publish and duplicate CDs or DVDs for marketing, software, training videos, images and other business data. By using REFLECTOR as a backup solution and a CD/DVD duplicator, small businesses are able to greatly increase productivity by performing several functions lowering their cost of ownership.

SMBs are among the fastest growing IT segments today," said Fred Bedard, StorageQuests Vice President of Sales and Marketing. These companies have IT needs that are just as sophisticated as enterprise level companies, but look for solutions that are simple to install, use and maintain. REFLECTORs unique capability of utilizing Primera's optical storage publication hardware delivers an unprecedented value to these businesses. They not only reap the benefits of a feature-rich network backup and archive solution, but they also get an award-winning CD/DVD publishing system all-in-one-solution."

When you consider the pervasive nature of CD and DVD technology, its easy to see why a solution like REFLECTOR is necessary," said Mark Strobel, Primera Technologys Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Backup and archival to optical media has multiple benefits over tape including lower cost, proven reliability and portability to any operating system without unique hardware or software. With the added benefit of True WORM media, all data will meet compliance regulations for unalterable data storage."

Jon Toigo, CEO of Toigo Parnters International, the industrys only consumer-focused research and analysis company adds, Long outside the economic reach of smaller companies, WORM technology has finally come down to earth with the release of StorageQuests REFLECTOR. Now, those concerned about regulatory compliance and non-reputability in long term data storage can leverage this inexpensive technology to integrate with existing DVD media-based publication systems to make short work of the problem."
