(PRWEB) July 4, 2005 -- On July 16, 2005 Café Du Nord embraces the future of Electronic Music as it presents Destination Lounge: SF LIVE with performances by some of SF's brightest electronica bands including: Artemis, DJ F & Hilary, Karmacoda, and Sutro.
Released in October, 2004, the Destination Lounge: San Francisco compilation became the #1 selling dance/electronica CD at Virgin Megastore-SF for the entire calendar year. The albums success also ended Thievery Corporations record of 4 years at number one. Destination Lounge: SF has stayed on top well into 2005, having sold over 7,000 units to date nationwide. The compilation, produced and compiled by DJ F, includes two CDs: Relax (downtempo) and Revive (house) and features some of the Bay Areas best emerging and established artists.
A seductive blend of day dreamy beats and starry-eyed breaks, the lush symphonic sound of Artemis is turning heads in the Bay and abroad with her recent third release, ‘Gravity (RTFM / Magnatune / Cyberset). Joined by fellow members of electronic artist collective RTFM for live performances featuring Artemis (vocals/flutes/programming), Daniel Berkman (handsonic percussion/kora/keys/guitar) and Cliff Tune (V-drums), Artemis and her posse weld a hypnotic synergy, offering listeners an inspiring aural journey.
The DJ F & Hilary live performance draws on the duo's extensive palette of funky dance music and spices it up with their original material. In the mix behind the turntables DJ F manages to play saxophone throughout the set, always keeping the crowd both dancing and entertained. Hilary lays her angelic vocals over the top of her husband's groove and the combination is a powerhouse. Their new single "LA Getaway" (available soon) features remix work from 2Asides artists Mike Lange (NYC), Ali Kay (NYC) and the Smoke Keepers (Milan, Italy).
Karmacoda's organic downtempo electronica has a sound that is distinctly their own and features cinematic, emotional, and absolutely breathtaking music. †Featuring lead vocalist Heather Pierce, B. (guitars/vocals), Brian Templeton (bass) and Rafael Acevedo (DJ/Turntables), Karmacoda renders human issues through the electronic medium to create the perfect aural escape from our ultra-commercialized planet.
Bridging the gap between electronic DJs and conventional bands San Francisco trio Sutro, Tyler Stone (vocals/programming), Patrick Hinds (guitar) and Keenan Wayne (bass/programming) are pioneering some of the most distinctive and arresting music of recent times. Reminiscent of past innovators Portishead, Massive Attack and Morcheeba, Sutro has cultivated a sound with a down-tempo pace and sonic landscape that is at once sensual and atmospheric.
Destination Lounge: SF LIVE will feature these 4 amazing groups incorporating programmed textures & rhythms with lush vocals and live instrumentation to create an evening dedicated to the evolution of live electronic music.
Big Shot magazine proclaimed - "Destination Lounge is indeed a classy place to hang out."
