Canadian Internet Pharmacy Works Closely with American Doctors to Develop Established Doctor/Patient Relationships" and Protect Consumer Safety

Patients receive personal care from full-time, medical professionals that complements the treatment they get from their American doctors, says DoctorSolve.

Vancouver, B.C. (PRWEB) July 6, 2005 -- In a recent announcement by Canadian Health Minister, Ujjal Dosanjh, the minister stated that he would ban the bulk export of prescription drugs when necessary," and that tougher rules would be put in place to require an established doctor/patient relationship for any cross-border drug sales."

Dr. Paul Zickler, co-founder of DoctorSolve Canadian Pharmacy (www.doctorsolve.com) supports Dosanjh's announcement, and is hopeful that new legislation will make the business of selling medications over the Internet by certified drug companies more credible and professional.

However, Zickler also believes that the way patients are treated at DoctorSolve constitutes an established doctor/patient relationship." We have full-time physicians and nurses on staff, plus consulting pharmacists. Patients complete an extensive health profile, which is reviewed over the phone to ensure that no adverse reactions are missed. Any discrepancies are corrected by contacting the American doctor's office directly. At six months, we review the patients' profiles again."

The relationship we have with each patient actually builds on the one they have with their own doctor. The U.S. physician has already performed a physical, done a history, ordered diagnostic tests, and prescribed medications. For the safety of the patient, all of these steps must be taken before we fill the order."

Dosanjh's initiative regarding the doctor/patient relationship is an effort to address the contentious issue of Canadian physicians endorsing a prescription written by an American doctor-without actually seeing the patient. Many believe this to be unethical," says Zickler, but I feel it is unethical not to assist patients to obtain affordable medications regardless of what side of the border they are on."

He adds that what's good for Canadians should also be applicable to Americans. Canadians can have prescriptions written in one province and filled in another without needing a second medical diagnosis. They can also have their prescriptions filled in many American states. Why would filling American prescriptions in Canada be any different?"
