Discretix Announces the Availability of CPRM Solutions for Mobile Devices

CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media) is a content protection scheme that works in conjunction with SD storage cards. The Discretix CPRM solution provides a full implementation of the CPRM Scheme and is available with a sophisticated, efficient, and secure implementation of the underlying C2 algorithm in hardware and software. The solution also supports future CPRM requirements such as SD Bind and SD-Video.

The solution is designed to run atop of the handset's main processor, eliminating the need for stand-alone dedicated hardware, significantly reducing the overall device Bill of Materials. The CPRM client is implemented in the most secure and robust manner, including enhanced features such as Discretixs Secure Storage module that protects the sensitive keys of the device.

CPRM mobile DRM schemes have been launched by a number of key operators in both North America and Asia. This trend is expected to continue with the proliferation of the SD card slots in mobile devices. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), 6.4% of mobile phones shipped in 2005 will include an SD expansion slot. This is expected to increase to 24.1% of all mobile phones shipped in 2008.
