Piedmont Hospital to Implement Frontiers eko systems' Perioperative Clinical Information Management System

Hospital expected to improve quality of care and realize significant financial benefit.

Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) July 12, 2005 -- Piedmont Healthcare, a multi-hospital system in Georgia, has signed an agreement to implement Frontiers, eko systems, inc's perioperative clinical information management system in its 34 OR's, Pre-Op Clinic, and Pre-Op Holding areas. In addition to the Frontiers Perioperative Clinical Information Management System, Piedmont will implement eko systems' Patient Trak Solution. Patient Trak is an automated patient tracking system that identifies the status of surgical patients from Pre-Op Holding through PACU with "real time" information.

Frontiers is a completely integrated clinical information management solution that covers the entire spectrum of perioperative care (pre-operative clinic, pre-operative holding, operating room, post anesthesia recovery room and post-operative rounds). The system was developed by clinicians and a team of engineers to meet the challenging needs of a "top 100" medical center.

John M. Hilliard, Chief Information Officer for Piedmont Healthcare, stated "This system will significantly improve efficiency and safety in the operating room by integrating patient information onto a single platform and will present a highly organized view of the patient condition throughout the procedure."

Barbara Johnson, Administrative Director Surgical Services stated, "We are thrilled that our dream of automating clinical documentation and securing a state-of-the-art patient tracking system is becoming a reality. Being able    to capture and accurately document patient assessments and interventions real time will support our efforts as a leader in patient care and safety. Everyone is also anxiously awaiting eko's patient tracking system and the accompanying reduction if not elimination of phone communication regarding the status of each patient. Physicians, staff and patients' families will know a patient's whereabouts and status at every moment in the Perioperative process. This system will give new meaning to communication. eko systems has been wonderful to work with. Their team has been committed to creating a system that would meet all our needs and exceed our expectations."

"We are delighted to be working with one of the premiere health systems in the country," said Donald Goldberg, CEO of eko systems, inc. "Automating clinical documentation throughout the perioperative process, will assist clinicians and the Hospital in the delivery of quality care, meet the increasing demands for regulatory compliance, improve efficiency throughout the perioperative process, increase the Hospital's and physicians' revenues and reduce costs."
