Tetra: a new JavaScript Scroller with RSS Newsfeed Integration

Tetra is a new JavaScript scroller that features integration with RSS newsfeeds, and AJAX for background updating--two technologies to ensure that the scroller content is always fresh and up-to-date.

(PRWEB) July 12, 2005 -- Gecko Tribe, LLC is pleased to announce the release of Tetra, a DHTML script that enables webmasters to place automatically updating scrollers on their websites. Tetra scrollers update dynamically in two ways: through integration with RSS newsfeeds to capture fresh content, and by using AJAX technology to update on the fly without requiring a webpage reload.

RSS newsfeeds offer a regularly updated stream of topically focused information. Tetra includes code to integrate with CaRP, Gecko Tribe's RSS to HTML converter, enabling it to display data from RSS newsfeeds. CaRP periodically checks for updates to the newsfeeds, keeping the scroller contents up-to-date automatically.

AJAX, or "Asynchronous JavaScript and XML", is a technology recently popularized by Google Maps and GMail that allows a webpage's content to be updated without reloading. Tetra can operate with static data, or can use AJAX to update the contents of a scroller on the fly.

The Tetra package includes tools for configuring and entering static data into each scroller, as well as for generating XML data files or code to integrate with CaRP to display RSS feeds.
