(PRWEB) July 13, 2005 -- The official premiere public screening of the documentary film "25 Strong" will be right in the Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn neighborhood that spawned the film. "25 Strong" is a documentary that celebrates the 25 year history of The Kevin Bushell Pre Teen Basketball Classic. The Pre Teen Classic takes place every summer at P.S. 305 Park in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York.

The Pre Teen Classic is operated by a small core of neighborhood residents who are concerned about the well being of their youth as well as the neighborhood at large. Basketball is used as a deterrent from the negative things that can happen in an area such as Bed Stuy. Pre Teen Players such as Stephon Marbury, Jamaal Tinsley, Rafer Alston, Omar Cook,Zach Marbury, Mike Boynton, Mike Sherrod and others went on to play either in the NBA or at a major college. A host of other youths who never played high level basketball are also among the alumni of The Pre Teen Classic.

"25 Strong" was directed and produced by Kevin Harewood and Stephen Booth.

Official premiere public screening of the film will be right in the middle of the neighborhood that generated it. The screening will be held on:

Wednesday July 20th 9PM at:
Von King Park Amphitheatre
Lafayette Avenue between Marcy and Tompkins
Brooklyn, New York

The screening sponsored in part by Herbert Von King Cultural Center Department of Parks City of NY. The event is free and open to the public.

"In some ways it is very fitting and very spiritual that the film has its first public screening in Von King Park,: says Harewood. "The late Mr Von King was very active in The Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood when he was alive and definitely acted in the spirit of The Pre Teen. Among other things he was President of the PTA at P.S. 44. It so happens my own dad was his Vice President and replaced him as President when Mr Von King's children moved on."
