Major Las Vegas Hotel Uses Innovative Obstruction Penetrating Antenna Design to Make Wi-Fi Simple and Cost Effective

Wifi-Plus Advanced antenna, a Digi-Award winner for the use of its antenna technology in the New York subway system, is revolutionizing hotel wi-fi design. The Stardust Hotel is latest beneficiary of new technology.

(PRWEB) July 15, 2005 -- The hotel and resort industry is quickly adopting wireless wi-fi as a must have for their guests. Cost, lack of education and poor hardware choices has created barriers to providing this service. The Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas contacted Combined Access to spearhead their wireless implementation. Combined Access utilized the newest antenna technology to achieve unheard of results on the Stardust project.

"Off the shelf products just can not provide the coverage needed," Said, Victor Pena of Combined Access, the project manager and technical expert. "Hotels fight with designs that require more and more radios to get the coverage needed due to obstructions. This only creates noise, more interference and multi-path. The Wifi-Plus MP antennas greatly simplified this by reducing interference and noise. We were able to provide strong signal to 20 floors, covering over 700 rooms using just 7 radios, this saved our client thousands of dollars on the project."

"We have seen projects that use far too many radios all too often. We usually get the call to fix the problem designs after they find that using more radios will not fix the problem but will create more noise and add expense. Many of the installs we have seen are using 1 access point radio for every 3 to 4 rooms," said Dr. Jack Nilsson, Chief Science Officer of Wifi-Plus Advanced Antenna. He continued "Utilizing the obstruction penetrating MP antennas with the proper radios creates results like Combined Access has achieved for the Stardust Hotel Las Vegas, outstanding coverage, cost effective and easy to maintain."

"Real world installations do not allow for Line of sight. The wireless world is full of obstruction that has hindered the adoption of wireless wi-fi services." WiFi-Plus, Inc. President Dennis Broderick said. He continued saying, "Our customers are discovering new and innovative ways to use our MP antenna technology, their breaking wireless design rules and achieving new levels of success on their wireless projects."
