Students at Pima Medical Institute In Tucson Roll Up Their Sleeves For Blood Drive

(PRWEB) July 16, 2005 -- Phlebotomy Technician students draw blood as part of their training at Pima Medical Institute, 3350 E. Grant Road, Suite 200, but they were also part of the donating process during the career colleges blood drive July 8th. Students and staff donated 60 pints of blood for The American Red Cross, a non-profit organization responsible for collecting, processing, and distributing blood and blood products to hospitals and their patients throughout Arizona.

"As future healthcare professionals our students understand how vital blood donations are," said Stan Bodzioney, campus director for the Tucson career college. "They say you shouldnt ask somebody to do something you wouldnt do yourself, and these students show they are not afraid of donating their own blood to make sure there isnt a shortage. They truly are professionals in their training, as well as their commitment to help the community they serve."

Little known facts about blood include: An estimated 85% of us will require blood before the age of 75; one pint of blood can save up to three different peoples lives; the average car accident trauma uses about 50 units of blood and there is no substitute for human blood.

In addition to their curriculum for Phlebotomy Technician, PMI has programs for: Dental Assistant; Medical Assistant; Medical Administrative Assistant; Health Unit Coordinator; Pharmacy Technician; Physical Therapist Assistant; Radiography; Respiratory Therapy and Veterinary Assistant.

PMI is one of the premiere medical career colleges in the western United States. For more than 30 years they have focused on healthcare and served as an industry leader in medical career training. The privately owned, accredited school provides students with a well-rounded education embracing theoretical classroom studies, as well as on-site training at medical facilities that mirror the working environment they will pursue after graduation.

PMI has been serving students since 1972, with campuses in: Albuquerque, NM; Chula Vista, CA, Colorado Springs and Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Seattle, WA, Mesa, AZ, as well as Tucson. Additional information is available by calling 1-888-442-5998 or at http://www.pmi.edu.
