Hit TV Show "Entourage" Portrays Irresponsible and Unsafe Snowboarding in Latest Episode, Complains Snowboard Website Owner

HBO's Emmy nominated hit TV show "Entourage" portrayed irresponsible and unsafe snowboarding in the latest episode, complains snowboard website owner Lauren Traub Teton, of www.SnowboardSecrets.com.

(PRWEB) July 21, 2005 -- In the latest episode of HBO's Emmy nominated hit TV show "Entourage, first aired July 17, irresponsible and unsafe snowboarding is portrayed, complains Lauren Traub Teton, owner and editor of www.SnowboardSecrets.com.

Entourage Episode 15 -The Sundance Kids, shows the four main characters standing poised at the top of a snowy Park City, UT slope with their snowboards. They challenge each other to a race down the hill, with a prize of $10,000 to the winner. Admittedly two of them are novices and one announced wistfully "maybe I SHOULD have taken a lesson."

http://www.SnowboardSecrets.com website owner Lauren Traub Teton says that this scene shows "the boys from Queens" making some of the most dangerous mistakes that inexperienced snowboarders can make. She says "Some of these four guys are newbies or out of practice. They went to the top of a challenging slope, for the first run of the day, maybe first of the season. And these competitive buddies are racing each other for big bucks that one has just offered up. And of course none are wearing helmets or protective gear. It's a recipe for disaster."

"They are endangering themselves, and innocent slope riders who can be injured or killed by their irresponsible behavior. You won't have a stunt double like these guys did." Ms. Teton adds "Entourage is still one of my favorite shows, despite the snowboarding gaff." It has just been renewed for a third season and was nominated for 3 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Ms. Teton maintains a news headline page on her website called "Snowboard Deaths" at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/SBdeaths.htm where reports of snowboard deaths worldwide since January 2005 can be found. Approximately 35 snowboard fatalities are reported. About one third were caused by riders hitting trees. One death was an accidental manslaughter where a teenage snowboarder riding out of control killed a skier. Most of the rest were caused by avalanches.

The website http://www.snowboardsecrets.com also has pages where readers can learn about the "2 Biggest Mistakes First-Time Snowboarders Make," and how to avoid them. There are buttons for "Mistakes" and "Secrets" right on the navigation bar.

http://www.SnowboardEventsCalendar.com and http://www.SnowboardRegistry.com are two of the other snowboard websites that Lauren Traub Teton has created and maintains for the snowboard community. SnowboardSecrets.com is her main snowboard website perma-zine and is rich in information to help snowboarders improve and evolve at snowboarding.
