Fundacion Amistad and Luly Duke Announce the Fourth Annual Gala - Images of Cuba "Dancing at Tropicana: A Night in Old Havana" - Wednesday, October 26, 2005 in NYC
Intellectuals, Artists, and Society Dine and Dance in the style of the legendary Tropicana nightclub to celebrate Cuban culture and raise funds for Fundacion Amistad, which fosters cultural, educational and humanitarian relations between Cuba and America.
(PRWEB) July 25, 2005 -- Fundacion Amistad and Luly Duke, Founder & President, present the Fourth Annual Images OF Cuba Gala themed Dancing at Tropicana: A Night in Old Havana." Celebrating the vibrancy and elegance of historic Havana, the evening will feature cocktails, dinner, an art auction, and dancing to the incredible music of Luis Bauzo and his 16 Piece Band.
Tropicana, the legendary Cuban nightclub that opened in 1939, was the brightest jewel in 1950s Cuban nightlife. Still going strong, it demonstrates how music and dance can surmount cultural, political and social boundaries.
Fundacion Amistads mission is to deepen the American and Cuban peoples understanding and appreciation of each others culture, history and society. It sponsors a broad range of cultural and humanitarian programs to bridge the gap between the people of the United States and Cuba. Proceeds from the Images of Cuba event will help sustain these vital initiatives.
The Cross Cultural Understanding Award recipient will be Rosa Lowinger, Author, "Tropicana Nights" (Harcourt 2005). Gala Co-Chairs include Luly & Tony Duke, Olga Garay, Marlene Hess & James Zirin, Elena & Ned Lord, Alberto Magnan, Maria Pessino.
The gala will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, 7:00 PM at Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue at 14th Street, New York City.
