The Killer Angels and Courage on Little Round Top.

Thanks to The Killer Angels and the movie Gettysburg, Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is one of the most popular figures from America's Civil War. During a heroic charge down Little Round Top, Chamberlain confronted a young officer, Robert Wicker, who held his ground while others around him fled. While Chamberlain received the Medal of Honor for his actions, Wicker faded from the historical record, until now.

Skyward Publishing (http://www.skywardpublishing.com) announces the publication of Thomas Eishen's historical novel, Courage on Little Round Top (trade paperback, $16.95, ISBN, 1-881554-38-4), the story of Chamberlain and Wicker and the events that brought them to Gettysburg.

This historic work covers more than history. It is an intense study showing a slice of Americana as it unfolds between Chamberlain, the 35-year-old, family man, college professor from Maine and Wicker, the 25 year-old college student from Perote, Alabama. Courage, honor, and fortitude run deep in this heart wrenching story of battle and bravery and of soldiers and generals who face down their worst fears.

Though a novel, Mr. Eishen’s research sets his work apart. Spending five years collecting historical research and gathering details, Eishen artistically incorporates his findings in a work of Civil War fiction that unfolds Robert Wicker’s personality, character, courage, and honor. Thought provoking and inspirational, the work also parallels Chamberlain’s emotional side, showing his pain, his fears, his courage. To bring in the reality of a war that often stood brother against brother, Eishen shows readers Chamberlain’s flesh and blood brothers who the general fought with at Gettysburg.

With favorable early reviews, this work will generate interest for Civil War enthusiasts who enjoy a new look into a familiar topic.

Mr. Eishen is available for interviews. Thomas Eishen is a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust, Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg, Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association, and the Organization of American Historians. His accomplishments include lectures on the fight for Little Round Top and researching the Civil War on the Internet. The Civil War News is publishing his photographs of reenactors and book reviews. He is currently working on another novel about Gettysburg focusing on the Turney's First Tennessee and the Thirteenth Vermont.
