Jim Ness 40 Years A Broadcaster For Us All

Jim Ness bring 40 years of broadcast experience to local news.

Riverside, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2005 -- You care about news in your area, whether in San Bernardino or Riverside counties. And you care about it today – not a few seconds on TV tonight, not a day later in the newspaper. Today! Virtually now. Jim Ness has delivered the news for over 40 years in the fast paced world of right now journalism.

For instance, on San Bernadinos KVCR FM (91.9), Jim Ness brings you local news 13 times each day. Thats the way he likes it.

When the Federal Communication Commission deregulated stations back in 92," he says, many broadcasters pared down or eliminated their news departments for more commercial time. More profit. The public that wanted to know what was happening around them got shortchanged. Thats when I created Inland Empire News Radio."

The news team now featuring a full staff along with Ms. Willi Rose, a longtime Inland Empire broadcaster, as its prime anchor.

IENR grew into a network of radio stations that still wanted to serve their listeners with breaking news, commentaries, features and state and world events. As many as a near dozen of stations have carried Ness news capsules" during the past dozen years, and the list is growing.

Seldom has a radio personality been so dedicated to his job, to servicing his listeners. Ness is up at 3:30 each morning, beginning a day that will often run 12 or more hours. He not only gathers the news and presents it, but also includes regular interviews, a task Ness is passionate about.

I learn," he says, with every interview I do. Its one of the things that has kept me in the business for so many years." Forty-one, to be exact. Jim Ness began with Inland Empire radio stations in 1964, and hasnt let up a day since.

He began in the business at the tender age of 16 at a small Iowa radio station and went on to work in a variety of radio and TV outlets, as well as covering the Inland Empire for the Los Angeles Times for eight years, and picked up dozens of awards from international news services as well as the Society of Professional Journalists.

His news shows include features and commentary, as well as the days events. Dan Bernstein, columnist with the Riverside Press-Enterprise presents a regular personal commentary, and Bob Sokolsky covers arts and entertainment. Both men have been with Ness for more than five years.

Whatever the stations want, I can provide," he explains. Some just like local information, others prefer local plus state happenings. Still others like world news included or want a show directed to their stations own unique demographics. I tailor what Im doing to what stations feel their listeners want as well as need."

To get news out as fast and available as possible, Ness created www.inlandnewstoday.com on the Internet. His webcasts provide both audio and visual news and features as well as a text format. A Web site tracking service, webTrends, reported 446,298 Web site hits for Ness in June; that 14,876 per day. Thats about what we average," he notes.

Ive got a great stable of advertisers and sponsors of the shows and the Web site. Many have been with me for years," Ness says. But like all broadcasters, he always has room for more.

Jim Ness may be reached at Inland Empire News Radio, (951) 369-3900.
