Pressed for Time? Here's Advice: When Not To Go To the Doctor

New statistics reveal the busiest days and hours at our nation's hospitals.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) July 29, 2005 - Are you busy trying to cram in commutes on both ends of the day, tied up with family obligations and personal appointments? Most people try to calculate the least-busy time to work ‘real life activities into their schedules. Take seeking patient care at hospitals.

If you want to avoid the busiest days and hours, dont go on Mondays. Dont show up at 11 a.m.

The nations largest hospital-focused provider of language services, CyraCom, has compiled its mid-year statistics. Data from more than 700 hospitals across the country was analyzed to identify the busiest day and hour.

Never visit on a Monday, if you have a choice," said CyraCom CEO Michael D. Greenbaum. And Tuesday is the runner-up. Avoid mornings because 11 a.m. is the busiest hour of the day, followed by 8 a.m."

Hospital representatives echo this advice. Many patients may put off seeking care on the weekends to avoid an emergency room charge, therefore delaying their visit until Monday," said Edee Dull, secretary of performance and improvement and accreditation at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo. Patients who require a voluntary procedure may visit the hospital on Monday which gives them the entire week and weekend to recuperate before returning to work the following week."

Anna Trautwein, patient education coordinator for Saint Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, said, To keep up with the influx during these busier times, perhaps hospitals alert those working registration to the fact that traffic may be heavier."

CyraCom, based in Tucson, offers telephonic language interpretation around-the-clock in more than 150 languages to hospitals nationwide. It also offers document translation, language program assessment and interpreter testing and training. The companys latest technology, ClearLink, a dual-handset telephone with customized features, connects health care workers to medically-trained interpreters in an average of 20 seconds. ClearLink is the latest in a series of innovations that in 2004 won the company a national award from InfoWorld magazine for health care technology.
