Can the Cleveland Browns win more than 4 games this NFL season?
Cleveland Browns fans, there is some solace knowing that the bookies placed a similar line of under 4 1/2 games on the San Diego Chargers last year.
Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) July 28, 2005 -- The Cleveland Browns stand a chance of winning a lot of games this season. Well, that is if you are a believer in what happened last year with the San Diego Chargers.
For those of you who were not following in 2004, the San Diego Chargers were listed among bookmakers as the team to win least number of games. The rest is history as we all know now, with the Chargers sailing into the Playoffs.
Can the same hold true for these Cleveland Browns?
For starters, The Browns have signed six of their eight picks with Braylon Edwards and quarterback Charlie Frye, a third-round pick, as the only holdouts.
There are also some major front offices changes that are being viewed by many as a step in the right direction.
Phil Savage is now the Senior Vice President and General Manager and Romeo Crennel was brought in from the New England Patriots to be the Head Coach.
"Let's face it, anything coming in from New England should be viewed as a positive," commented Christopher Costigan, founder and President of www.gambling911.com. "The Browns have a whole new coaching staff as well."
Additionally there is a capable quarterback in Trant Dilfer, who brings with him veteran leadership and an ability to work within the system -- not that Jeff Garcia wasn't that and more. Garcia, however, did not have the proper coaching staff to foster his talents.
The defense might be a little weak, but still there is hope.
"We are not here predicting a Super Bowl win by the Cleveland Browns," Costigan stated. "Gambling911.com is looking solely at the NFL regular season win total the bookmakers are predicting for Cleveland."
www.betcris.com has posted a -125 on the OVER 4 1/2 games for Cleveland (a -105 line has been placed on the UNDER 4 1/2 games). On the surface this may appear as if BetCRIS is leaning towards at least 5 wins by the Browns this season, but in reality there doesn't appear to be all that much faith placed on the team's success with this line.
Betting on team win totals for the regular season is among the most fun a sports enthusiast can have.
"Imagine the joy of having money on the San Diego Chargers last year and knowing early on in the season your team was going to win some big money for you," Costigan said. "This is an interesting type of bet that can be ridden out over a long period of time, especially when money is on the over. You can sort of prepare yourself for a win or loss each week without the last minute surprises that often accompany straight bets on a single week's game. This is not an "On the edge of your seat" type wager so your blood pressure can be kept in check."
And the Browns aren't alone among the bookmakers choice for inferiority. BetCRIS.com lists the San Francisco 49ers as winning no more than 4 1/2 games, with the under as a -125 favorite vs. -105 on the over.
