Sucid Corporation Delivers SAP Automated Security Testing Product; Company Further Extends SAP Test Automation Product Line

Sucid Corporation, the leader in SAP testing, today announced that it has released Sucid Security, a new product that automates SAP security testing. Sucid Security enables security administrators to run automated tests that ensure that employees can access the functions required to do their jobs while protecting sensitive corporate data and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 8, 2005 -- Sucid Corporation, the leader in SAP testing, today announced that it has released Sucid Security, a new product that automates SAP security testing. Sucid Security enables security administrators to run automated tests that ensure that employees can access the functions required to do their jobs while protecting sensitive corporate data and maintaining regulatory compliance.

It is difficult to say which is more important in todays environment -- making sure employees can do what they are supposed to be able to do, or making sure they cannot do what they are not supposed to be able to do. Reliance on enterprise software applications has reached a point where work stops and productivity plummets when access to these applications is lost. At the same time, businesses must be extremely concerned with properly limiting access to sensitive data and business functions -- both due to internal drivers like intellectual property protection and external regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.

Security administrators responsible for configuring and managing SAP security profiles can attest that meeting these two opposing security goals for a large enterprise is a very challenging job. Users can be assigned multiple SAP security profiles with conflicting permissions and constraints, and changes made to SAP applications each week can unexpectedly upset the delicate security balance, blocking users from work or opening holes and exposing the business to significant risk.

Today security administrators respond to help desk calls from users who cant do their work. They experiment with SAP profile configurations and ask users to try again until they are able to once again do their job. It is a very inefficient process, and a great deal of business productivity is lost, but it gets the job done. However, security administrators do not receive help desk calls when changes result in security exposures.

Sucid Security automates SAP security testing. Once a set of business processes have been modeled using Sucid Process Modeler, a security administrator can use Sucid Security to run automated SAP security tests against the transactions that comprise these business processes. The administrator can test an individual user or a group of users, or he or she can run a test for a security profile or a group of security profiles. In the latter case, Sucid Security will test each individual user that has been assigned the profile to be tested. Both positive and negative tests can be run to ensure that business users can do what they are supposed to do, and cannot do what they are not supposed to do.

"Security continues to top the list of concerns for information technology executives, and it has now also become a top concern for CFOs with the introduction of regulatory legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley," said David Wilson, president and CEO of Sucid. "The addition of security testing to our SAP test automation product line further sets Sucid apart as the only vendor focused on end-to-end SAP test automation."
