Rooibos, also known as Red Bush Tea, grows only in the perfect growing conditions of the Cedarburg Mountain region of the Western Cape of South Africa. The shrub-like bush is covered with thin, needle-like leaves that produce a reddish brown, yet full-bodied brew with a sweet, earthy aroma. This caffeine-free brew is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and is known as South Africas ‘National tea. The locals are said to consume, on average, 5 cups daily.
Fair Trade certification lends support to tea estate workers in undeveloped countries to meet the specific needs of their communities.
