(PRWEB) August 14, 2005 -- According to the Disability Rights Commission approximately 10 million people in the UK have some form of disability. Eighty percent of UK websites surveyed could be missing out on millions of revenue from this market.

The Broadband Centre Hastings has organized a regional conference for Web Designers and Developers on Website design for accessibility.

The conference delegates will have an opportunity to learn and try out website accessibility testing techniques and discuss W3C guidelines, the global standard for web accessibility.

Included in the seminar will be demonstrations of access technologies by users. Experts from AbilityNet and East Sussex Disability Association will also be on hand to answer DDA questions and discuss a preview of the new British Standards Institute guide PAS 78 for commissioning of accessible websites.

The event takes place at University Centre Hastings in Havelock Road, Hastings, from 9.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. Lunch, tea and coffee are included in the price.

The conference costs 50 per delegate as it is sponsored by SEEDA, part-financed by the EU SEPIA fund and supported by BT. The Broadband Centre is part of the Hastings Regeneration program managed by Sea Space.
