New 638nm Laser Diodes offer 40mW (abs.max.) Power in tiny 5.6mm Package

Photonic Products are pleased to announce that, for the first time ever, a range of lead-free, visible wavelength laser diodes, rated to 50 degrees Centigrade, offers very high output powers of 40mW absolute maximum (DL-LS1148) or 25mW absolute maximum (DL-LS1164), in a tiny 5.6mm package. These very high output powers were previously available only in a 9mm package laser diode.

(PRWEB) August 14, 2005 -- Photonic Products are pleased to announce that, for the first time ever, a range of lead-free, visible wavelength laser diodes, rated to 50 degrees Centigrade, offers very high output powers of 40mW absolute maximum (DL-LS1148) or 25mW absolute maximum (DL-LS1164), in a tiny 5.6mm package.

These very high output powers were previously available only in a 9mm package laser diode.

Not only are they remarkable for their tiny size, but the Sanyo DL-LS1148 and DL-LS1164 638nm laser diodes are part of a new range of laser diodes developed by Sanyo with a new diode type structure which results in a beam circularity ratio of 2:1, compared to the previous beam circularity ratio of 4:1.

The smallness of these laser diodes combined with their improved beam circularity results in significant cost savings for OEMs and makes them ideal for products such as laser levelers and line-markers, bar-code scanners, machine vision and alignment and medical and dental imaging applications.

Supplied in a 5.6mm package, the Sanyo DL-LS1148 and DL-LS1164 laser diodes have a low threshold current of 65mA, low operating voltage of 2.4V, differential efficiency of 0.95mW/mA and an operating temperature range of –10 degrees C to +50 degrees C.

The Sanyo DL-LS1148 has a high output power of 40mW CW at a visible wavelength of 638nm, typical operating current of 110mA, monitor output current of 0.6mA and requires a negative (N type) power supply system.

The Sanyo DL-LS1164 has a high output power of 25mW CW at a visible wavelength of 638nm, typical operating current of 80mA, monitor output current of 0.3mA and requires a negative (N type) power supply system.

These Sanyo laser diodes are now lead-free in compliance with the RoHS Directive.

Photonic Products, established in 1995, is a manufacturer of optical sub-assemblies and innovative optoelectronic components based on semiconductor laser diode technology and also a specialist distributor of high performance industrial laser diodes, LEDs and precision optical lenses.
