Kevin Epps, acclaimed independent filmmaker is to receive 'Independent Filmmaker of the Year Award' at the Northern California Film Production Communitys Second Annual Industry Gala.
San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) August 19, 2005 -- Kevin Epps, acclaimed independent filmmaker is to receive Independent Filmmaker of the Year Award" at the Northern California Film Production Community's Second Annual Industry Gala. The Gala is set to take place at the stately Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco, California on Aug. 20, 2005.
Epps who has received many accolades including Best Documentary Film
(2003) Pan African Film Festival is to be honored once again along with other notables, celebrities and powerbrokers. Epps is known among the independent film community for creating "Straight Outta Hunters Point (SOHP)" (2003) an award-winning film that garnered critical acclaim and launched Epps into the spotlight.
SOHP has been described as "a raw uncompromising film about the evolution of a black culture dealing with very complex social, economic, environmental and gang-related violence issues. SOHP screened globally in film festivals and went on to open in theatres in select cities across country.
Founding Mastamind Productions, LLC in 2002 Epps has gone on to direct Rap Dreams, a film about the journey of upcoming rappers, is slated for release in November 2005. Scheduled for release during Black History Month 2006, "The Black Rock" is a documentary film about the untold story of the African-American experience at Alcatraz (blackrockfilm.com) and also developing it into a feature length screenplay. Mastamind Productions, LLC has also acquired Preparing Legends, a workout DVD by world renowned fitness trainer Raymond Ferris, who have trained and worked out with Barry Bonds, Jerry Rice, Eddie George. In addition Epps works with many organizations including Conscious Youth Media, Film Arts Foundation, BAVC, and is a frequent speaker at many forums on digital filmmaking.
