Hudson and Be Someone Need Help to Keep Helping Children Make the Right Move

Former State Trooper is teaching chidren to think one move at a time. Be Someone has reached over 16,000 hard to reach kids and hopes to reach more.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 22, 2005 -- This month's issue of Black Enterprise Magazine honored Orrin Hudson as an Everyday Hero for efforts to improve the lives of disadvantaged youth through Be Someone. Hudson has invested all of his life savings for a dream he believes in and needs sponsors to continue his transformational program.

He is a former 6-year Alabama state trooper, Air Force veteran, and now the founder of youth organization called Be Someone, Inc. (http://www.besomeone.org ). Hudson came to realize sending people to jail were tantamount to sending them to a school for crime. Instead, he sought to create a program for kids. Be Someone, Inc.'s mission is to build character, hope, and inspiration among disadvantaged youth. Hudson's program teaches kids chess and also collects handguns to help disarm the streets.

Hudson, who is the recipient of numerous award such as the 2005 National Self-esteem Award, 2005 NAACP Award for community service, 2005 NBC Good People Award, 2005 Black Enterprise Everyday Hero Award, 2004 TBS Superstation Pathfinders awards for Education, the 2005 Atlanta Braves Award, and the 2004 MLK award, 2004 Turknett Leadership Character Award, Orrin has dedicated his life to helping others. Visit his website for a photo library and to see a short video produced by TBS http://www.besomeone.org/video/PathfinderAward_med.htm as well as CNN and other stations.

Be Someone is currently under consideration for inclusion in a new network series focused on philanthropy. But to make it to the fall, Hudson needs support. Visit www.besomeone.org for more information about how you can help.

Hudson, a motivational speaker and two time chess champion, has blazed a trail throughout America teaching and motivating youth. He has been a source of inspiration using chess as a stimulus for children to learn the very adult concepts of responsibility, discipline, and self-reliance. He teaches them to believe in their own ideas and to learn from their decisions. To date, Be Someone has helped over 16,000 at risk and hard to reach youth.

Orrin work has been featured in USA Today, CNN Headline News and CNN American Stories.
