Patient Self Check-in Module Leads List of New Features in ACOMs RAPID EMR 3.8 eDocumentation and Reporting Solution

RAPID EMR satisfies rigorous requiremens for speed, comprehensiveness and accuracy in chiropractic office reports to insurers and regulators. The latest version highlights accelerated erformance and more automation.

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (PRWEB) August 26, 2005 -- A highly automated patient self check-in touch-screen kiosk module heads the roster of new performance, convenience and navigation features in Version 3.8 of the RAPID EMR clinical e-documentation and reporting solution from the EMR Division of ACOM Solutions, Inc. RAPID 3.8 chiropractic software is being demonstrated publicly for the fist time in Booths 69, 70 and 82 at the National Convention and Expo of the Florida Chiropractic Association. (Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, August 26-28.)

According to ACOM Vice President Gregory T. Church, patient registration in the kiosk module is set up with personal information (name address, age, gender, etc.) by front-office staff over the phone or on the first visit, after which all information is input directly by the patient through check-boxes that progress automatically through multiple screens in a tree-like structure. Initiating the session by touching Start," the patient first answers the question, What brings you to our office?" The response indicates the reason for the visit, which automatically places him/her in the appropriate session sequence: Initial, Daily or Final.

"The questions posed by the kiosk mirror what is already on many of the RAPID program screens," Church said. "If a file does not yet exist, the patients input to the kiosk can open one, with the information confirmed by the doctor during the visit. The module is designed for simplicity and precision, with absolutely no keyboard input required of either the patient or the doctor. No post-visit rekeying of the information is necessary because it automatically transfers to the patients RAPID file."

In addition to the check-boxes, data entry on the various screens utilizes such devices as body and muscle helpers, intelligent diagrams and outcome assessment tools that assist the patient in tightly focusing on up to 10 complaints per session. All of the drop-downs have intelligent fields that eliminate the need to go through multiple stages to get to a visual diagram or helper.

"The kiosk module is designed to save time and labor for the front office staff, to expedite the patient visit, and also to establish a high level of patient participation in the treatment process," Church said. "Doctors have told us that this module will be extremely useful in streamlining both the professional and business sides of their practices, and were proud to make it a cornerstone of our latest version of RAPID.

Version 3.8 also features dramatically expanded intelligent helpers for the full body, the muscles and the spine, an automatic helper for X-rays, extended capabilities for the solutions Custom Letters module, and a new module for independent medical examiners.

Each helper element has associated text that displays on the screen and saves to file automatically. The body helper has been improved with more automation and more parts; the muscle helper has been increased from 50 muscles to more than 170; and the spine helper has been assigned intelligence that allows precise locations of problems at any point on the Georges Line to be automatically entered into the X-ray module. Previously, this information had to be typed in manually.

The Custom Letters module takes advantage of a new automation capability of Microsoft Word 2003 – the edition that is included in the bundled version of the RAPID solution. Patients normally are required to sign a great many documents in the course of diagnosis, authorization and treatment, this new feature enables them to sign the documents on-screen and have the signed copies immediately become part of the case file.

The Independent Medical Examiner module brings a high level of precision and automation to the IME function, providing terminology that is specific to the examiners requirements and again using the mechanism of mission-specific check-boxes for ease of use and precise definitions and explanations.

"Independent medical examiners are charged by their clients and by regulators to deliver error-free and comprehensive judgments on the amount and kinds of treatment that have been provided," Church said. "This module enables them with the intelligent tools to evaluate a given course of treatment at every stage and to deliver a report that fulfills their professional responsibilities clearly, completely and exactly."

Intuitive and easy to use, Rapid chiropractic software traces patient workflow from the initial visit through final examination. Narrative reports are automatically generated directly from patient examination data, eliminating the need for transcription services. Chiropractic narrative reports produced by RAPID EMR include: Initial Examination, Daily Notes, SOAP Note, Follow-up, and Final Examination.

RAPID chiropractic software Version 3.8 is available to current users for field upgrade as a downloadable file or on CD by calling 866 286 5315 or email cbarragan@acom.com.
