Barger, Cowart & Kenney Implements Training for HR Professionals

Barger, Cowart & Kenney, LLC (BCK), an Atlanta-based Corporate Psychology firm announced today that it will begin offering training to HR professionals on the appropriate use of psychometric testing during pre-employment screenings and employee development processes.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 29, 2005 -- Barger, Cowart & Kenney, LLC (BCK), an Atlanta-based Corporate Psychology firm announced today that it will begin offering training to HR professionals on the appropriate use of psychometric testing during pre-employment screenings and employee development processes.

Most HR professionals use psychological testing providers to assess potential employees, but many do not fully understand what these instruments test" or how they are used by psychologists to gain valuable insight into the individual being assessed. Jennifer M. Keith, Psy.D., a psychological consultant with Barger, Cowart & Kenney has constructed a training seminar which addresses the proper use of some of the most common instruments used in employee assessments (16PF, Myers-Briggs, Strong Interest Inventory), what they test, and how they are interpreted and integrated. With more and more online personality tests being made public, it is imperative that HR professionals understand what the test is actually testing," stated Dr. Keith. Individual instruments are just one piece of a psychological assessment and should never be used as the sole means of determining the appropriateness of a potential hire."

The workshop, scheduled for September 22, 2005 in Atlanta, will be the first in an ongoing series of workshops directed at HR professionals. It is designed to be interactive in order to afford participants the opportunity to apply what they are learning. Our goal is for HR professionals to leave the workshop feeling confident in their ability to appropriately administer psychometric testing and understand how to best utilize the information," states Dr. Keith. The workshop is currently being reviewed for continuing education credits by the HR Certification Institute and is scheduled to be offered several times a year.

In her work as a psychological consultant, Dr. Keith provides career assessment, coaching and consultation services to people in all stages of professional development. Her primary focus is in the areas of personality and cognitive assessment and consultation.
