New Website "WWW.DONT-GET-SCREWED.NET" Aims to Give Abstinence Discussion a Safe Place in Cyberspace

DONT-GET-SCREWED.NET is site where individuals can see for themselves what others are saying about there own experience with pre-marital sex and inturn inspire others by sharing their truth.

Inglewood, CA (PRWEB) September 2, 2005 -- Yvette Thomas, founder of Wait Wear, the successful clothing line promoting chastity until marriage, has launched a new website: WWW.DONT-GET-SCREWED.NET. The site, set to launch on September 1, 2005, will allow people of all ages to share their inspirational stories about waiting until marriage to have sex, while also providing a forum for others to share the consequences of pre-marital sex. Thomas sees the site as a natural extension of her abstinence friendly clothing line, giving individuals an opportunity to encourage one another in the bold choice they are making: the decision to wait. As Thomas states, "In a culture where most media messages say, 'go ahead, everyone is doing it,' I wanted to give young people a support system – so they can know there are others out there who are facing the same everyday struggles they face."

The site set-up is simple. The homepage opens onto the sites detailed mission statement. At the top of the screen there is a link to: "The Truth"; clicking here will allow an internet user to view the stories that have been input thus far. There is also a link to a preset form where an individuals story can be typed out. First names, ages, and comments are all that will appear on the posts. Thomas says that she is hoping to gather at least 10,000 postings within a year and notes that new messages will be posted on a weekly basis.

The sites slogan, detailed in its mission statement, is: See the Truth. Share the Truth. Spread the Truth. For Thomas, the truth is that abstinence until marriage is the best way for young people to approach the future. She notes that the slogan represents what she hopes is a cycle of communication. "Young people can 'see' it by coming to the site and reading the stories, they can 'share' it by telling about their own experiences, and they can 'spread' it by letting others know about the site."

Thomas was inspired to launch DONT-GET-SCREWED.NET because of the hundreds of emails she received as a result of her clothing line. She chose the name because it reflects an ‘in-your-face attitude kids can appreciate. The site will work, she says, Because abstinence is not only about personal commitment, its also about finding support."
