Apptix Selects EM7 IT Management System to Deliver on its Promise of High Availability

Apptix® (OSE: APP), a global provider of software and solutions for on-demand applications, has selected the EM7 System to simplify management of its complex infrastructure and to meet the customer service level agreements (SLAs) that are at the heart of its business. Apptix cites instant integration with Microsoft Operations Manager, unique features that meet service provider needs, and integrated ticketing system as critical selling points.

Chantilly, VA (PRWEB) September 2, 2005 -- ScienceLogic™ LLC, whose revolutionary EM7™ System is deployed in networks throughout the service provider, government, and commercial markets, announced today that Apptix® (OSE: APP), a global provider of software and solutions for on-demand applications, has selected the EM7 System to simplify management of its complex infrastructure and to meet the customer service level agreements (SLAs) that are at the heart of its business.

Apptix, which provides services such as Microsoft® Exchange and SharePoint and BlackBerry® mobile messaging, currently manages hundreds of servers in its data centers using the EM7 System.

"We went from using several basic monitoring tools, including Ipswitch WhatsUp® Gold and NetIQ®, to managing the servers using just the EM7 solution plus our existing Microsoft Operations Manager, which now sends monitoring data and alerts to the EM7 System. EM7's instant integration with Microsoft Operations Manager adds value to an investment we have already made and gives us a unified view of our entire infrastructure," said Peter Walther, Director of Technical Operations and Customer Support for Apptix. "We selected the ScienceLogic product because it offered greater functionality in the basic unit at a much lower price point than Tivoli® and Unicenter®. Since the EM7 solution is appliance-based, it was truly a 'plug-and-play' solution."

Apptix installed the ScienceLogic EM7 System in September over a three-day period.

"All I needed to do was install and fire up SNMP, plug in the EM7 System, and it started running smoothly right out of the box," said George Velasquez, Apptix Manager of Engineering. "All the information we need is available via the EM7 interface, which has decreased our response time and improved uptime for our customers.

"If we don't hit our SLAs, the phone is ringing for credits, so the EM7 System has proved invaluable from a business perspective," Velasquez said. "In addition, we can easily pull reports to monitor the SLAs for each customer."

In addition to network management and monitoring, Apptix is now using the EM7 System for web-based ticketing, replacing their Remedy® software. Ticketing, according to Velasquez, is now much faster and tracking is available via the EM7 interface. "If customers have questions about a ticket or anything else, we can pull a report on the spot and give them the answer," Velasquez said. "ScienceLogic is definitely the way to go for network management and monitoring."
