Cornerstone America Doubles Donations and Raises over $70,000 in Cash for Charities
The Charity Tournament was held at the Hilton Sandestin Resort Hotel located in Destin, Florida. Cornerstone America raised over $70,000 for charitable organizations.
(PRWEB) September 2, 2005 -- Cornerstone America held a Charity Volleyball Tournament as part of their annual Leader's Conference in August 2005. The conference was held at the Hilton Sandestin Resort Hotel located in beautiful Destin, Fla.
The Charity Volleyball Tournament was a way to bring the Teams together in a light hearted and fun atmosphere while working together for many great causes. First place Team was to win $5,000 to donate to their favorite charity. 2nd Place, $4,000. 3rd Place, $3,000. 4th Place, $2,000 and the balance of Teams tie for 5th place, with $1,000 each to the charity of their choice.
What happened next was something they will each remember forever. As representatives from some of the sponsored charities; such as the United Way, the Destin Fire Department, the Wounded Warrior, the American Cancer Society, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Walton County Sheriff's Department stepped on stage to receive their check, the Cornerstone Regional Managers were touched with compassion and one by one they personally contributed and matched the amount of the initial donation. Emotions ran deep and generosity took over when Cornerstone Representative and President of AMG, Troy McQuagge announced that on behalf of each member of the Cornerstone Team to represent their hard work, their efforts and their success that Cornerstone America would be doubling all the initial donations. The Wounded Warrior Charity was just one of the chosen charities and during the presentation a Military helicopter flew by with its side door open and soldiers shouting and cheering to the Cornerstone Representatives on the beach below. It was a moment to be proud of; it was a moment no one will forget.
This Charity Tournament was an overwhelming success and rose over $70,000 in total charitable donations. Here are the total donations that include the amount matched by Cornerstone America.
Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention received $15,000.
The United Way received $12,000.
Walton County Sheriff's Department received $12,000.
Cure Autism Now received $7,000.
Make-A-Wish Foundation received $6,000.
American Cancer Society received $3,000.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society received $3,000.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for Pediatric Cancer received $3,000.
The Wounded Warrior Project received $3,000.
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation received $3,000.
The Florida Hurricane Relief Fund received $3,000.
The Destin Fire Department received $3,000.
