Recognizing the unthinkable hardships that have befallen residents of the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Enterprise Forum Chicago Chapter is donating 100% of the net proceeds from its September 13th program to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. Law Offices of Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP to match proceeds.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 1, 2005 -- The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Enterprise Forum of Chicago announce today that it is donating 100% of the net proceeds from its September 13th program "Strategic Innovation: How Cutting-Edge Design & Technology Created an Iconic Market Leader" to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Peter Balbus, president of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago, stated, The enormity of the suffering left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina prompted us to take action to help those most in need. The human toll, scale of destruction, and vastness of the rebuilding that lies ahead is almost unimaginable. We hope in some small way to make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster."

The Chicago-based law firm of Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP (GCD) is the principal sponsor of the program and has agreed to absorb the costs of hosting the event and its cocktail reception as well as provide matching funds to double the event's Red Cross donation. 125-150 people are expected to attend the event, which starts at 5pm and is being held at GCD's law offices located at 191 N. Wacker Dr., Suite 3700, Chicago, IL.

The MIT Enterprise Forum is donating the proceeds from the event's registration fees and is also asking attendees to make an additional donation to the American Red Cross if possible. The Forum will accept personal and corporate checks made payable to the American Red Cross at its registration desk on the day of the event. Registration can be completed online at www.mitefchicago.org or on site the day of the event.

The September 13th program, titled Strategic Innovation: How Cutting-Edge Design & Technology Created an Iconic Market Leader", will feature Jim Wicks, Motorolas Chief Designer. He will present his perspective on strategic innovation as Director of MOTOs Consumer Experience Design organization, which drove development of the iconic RAZR cell phone and is now working on other products that build on the RAZRs stunning success. A Q&A session will follow his presentation.

Registration and cocktail reception opens at 5pm, with the speaker presentation starting at 6:30pm.
