Freebirds World Burrito Donates Funds and Meals for Katrina Victims

Texas-based Freebirds World Burrito reaches out to those in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Region affected by Hurricane Katrina with donations of food and money.

(PRWEB) September 4, 2005 -- Freebirds World Burrito, the Texas-based fresh fast casual restaurant known for its Monster burritos, announced today its commitment to support recovery efforts in the communities in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Region affected by Hurricane Katrina. The company will raise funds through individual donations through ten of its Texas restaurants.

In addition to collecting funds, the Houston Freebirds locations are donating 300 meals to the victims that have taken shelter at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nasa Bay. The College Station locations have donated ten meals for two families that are staying in College Station.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by this disaster," said Alan Hixon, CEO of Freebirds World Burrito. "We have made a direct appeal and are humbled by our patrons generosity and their willingness to help us provide funds for aid to those who lost so much."

Freebirds is collecting donations in its restaurants by placing containers near their cash registers to provide patrons with a means of making donations. Until further notice, all collections from Freebirds Austin, Bryan / College Station, Dallas, and Fort Worth stores will go to the American Red Cross.
