UNIS LUMIN & Kingston Police Launch Online eCriminal Background Check – Save Time, Do It Online
Partnership Leverages UNIS LUMIN's Application Development Solutions to redefine how service to the community is offered in Kingston.
Oakville, Ontario (PRWEB) September 2, 2005 -- The Kingston Police today launched a new online service (www.kpf.ca) that makes it easier for the citizens of Kingston to obtain criminal background checks required for employment or volunteer purposes. Developed by UNIS LUMIN, the eCriminal Background Check service automates a chore that previously required an individual to go to the Kingston Police station, obtain an application, complete it and return it to the police station for processing.
Not only does the eCriminal Background Check system provide citizens with a much more efficient easy process to obtain their background check, it provides the police with gains in productivity by eliminating some of the manual processing of those applications.
The new online application integrates e-commerce capabilities allowing applicants to complete, submit, and pay for a criminal background check from any web browser connected to the Internet any time of the day or night. When the background check is complete, the applicant will automatically receive an email notification to come to the police station with photo identification to pick up the final report. This requirement to attend the police station with picture identification protects the personal information by ensuring it is only released to the person noted on the application.
"This new online service is intended to be a win-win situation. Most important, those members of our community that are able to take advantage of this service save time by not having to travel to the Kingston Police station twice. In addition, the time we save by receiving the application via the online service we can put towards processing the applications themselves. This is particularly important as requests for criminal background checks almost doubled between 2000 and 2004 and look to increase again in 2005," said Scott Geoffrey, Director of Information Services, Kingston Police.
