Caribbean Shipping Services Becomes A Voluntary Member of C-TPAT

Caribbean Shipping Services announces its membership in the voluntary organization C-TPAT.

(PRWEB) September 6, 2005 -- Caribbean Shipping Services announces that it has joined the Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). C-TPAT is a joint government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that will strengthen the over all supply chain and border security.

C-TPAT is a voluntary initiative through which businesses must conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of their supply chain security using C-TPAT security guidelines that have been jointly developed by Customs and the trade community. The areas of assessment include Procedural Security, Physical Security, Personnel Security, Education and Training, Access Controls, Manifest Procedures and Conveyance Security. Benefits of membership in C-TPAT include decreased border inspections, increasing productivity.

Caribbean Shipping is proud to do its share to contribute to the security of our borders," said Paul Robbins, CEO.

On August 19, 2005, Caribbean Shipping Services and Eagle Logistics Systems announced an agreement in principle to merge their companies by combining their operations. The merge is expected to close in late September and will solidify the new entity as the largest third party shipper into the Puerto Rican market.

Also recently, Caribbean Shipping Services was at the top of the list of Port of Jacksonville trade partners according to their 2004 statistics. Caribbean was listed as the top locally owned company exporting to Puerto Rico, Jacksonvilles number one trade partner.

Caribbean Shipping Services was founded in 1993 by Paul and Julie Robbins. Today they operate from their main offices in Jacksonville, FL and satellite offices in Miami, FL, San Juan, PR, and Howell, NJ. The company has twice been named to INC Magazines list of 100 Fastest Growing Inner City Companies. Since 1999 they have also been included in the First Coast 50, a listing of the top fifty companies in Northeast Florida.

Caribbean Shipping Services and Caribbean Cold Storage offer ocean, air, inland transportation, warehousing and consolidation services.
