Hurricane Katrina Survivors Need Our Help

The people of New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast have a long road to recovery. aNewOrleans.info has been created to assist the survivors of Hurricane Katrina in their efforts towards restoring order, both in their cities and in their own lives.

Ridgecrest, CA (PRWEB) September 7, 2005 -- aNewOrleans.info is a new website created to help facilitate the complete restoration of the city of New Orleans and its residents. This restoration process will involve the exchange of information and services between individuals and corporations alike. aNewOrleans.info aspires to be the most powerful resource available for the citizens and residents of the states affected by Hurricane Katrina.

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina became the single-most costly and devastating natural disaster the United States has ever seen. In its wake, this category 5 hurricane, with winds of up to 175 mph, has left an estimated 10,000+ dead, 20,000+ missing, and over 100 billion dollars in estimated damage. Those who suffered most, ironically, were those who could afford it least. Many who rode out the hurricane were too sick, too poor, or did not have the means to evacuate New Orleans beforehand.

Imagine yourself displaced from all that brings you comfort. Walk in the shoes of a Katrina survivor and feel the despair, the complete lack of hope that is now their reality. If you were a survivor, what thoughts would be running through your head? The modern-day conveniences we take for granted like food, water and even plumbing are now extinct in New Orleans. What would you do if you had no running water, no food, no clothes, no diapers for your child, medicine, or even shelter?

aNewOrleans.info will fight to meet the survivors' needs by serving as a medium of communication between survivors and those who would help. We will find the answers to these questions:

"How do we fix the city?", "How can I help?", "What and where can I donate?", "Need to call someone?", "Need a place to stay?", "What about disease?", " Need a job?", "Need food?", "Need medical attention / supplies?", "Need a loan?", "Where's my family / friends / pet?", "Need a vehicle / transportation?", "Who's helping us?"

aNewOrleans.info Features a survivor/volunteer forum, pictures, relocation resources, daily-updated news and weather, all focused on the swift repair of New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast. Also featuring resources related to rebuilding, medical information, financial aid, jobs, education, gas prices, locating people & pets, volunteering and much more.

Two long-time friends created aNewOrleans.info one week after Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans and damaged the rest of the Gulf Coast. "We had no money to give, but we have talent and resources, so this site is our gift to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina." said Mike Bird, co-creator of aNewOrleans.info. "Our mission is to expedite the rebuilding of the city of New Orleans and to assist the survivors of Katrina's wrath by providing timely information and indispensable resources related to their needs."

Located in Ridgecrest, CA, aNewOrleans.info is an online resource for survivors of Hurricane Katrina and those who wish to help. For more information on aNewOrleans.info contact Mike Bird, Media Relations at 760.793.4811 or AC McGinley at 626.203.6816.
