Entrepreneur Creates Web Based Anti-Smoking Animation to Influence Young People not to Smoke Cigarettes

Freedom Laser Therapy hopes young people get the message that cigarettes are very addictive and they would be better off never smoking in the first place.

(PRWEB) September 9, 2005 -- Craig Nabat, President of Freedom Laser Therapy, headquartered in Los Angeles, developed a 3-minute Internet based anti-smoking cartoon called "Freedom Saves the World from Nicotine Addiction."

Freedom Laser Therapy offers a quit smoking laser therapy to help smokers break their nicotine addiction. Freedom's anti-smoking animation is a satire depicting how the tobacco industry is enticing young people to smoke cigarettes, which can be seen online at: www.freedomanimation.com

Nabat, a former pack and a half a day smoker states, "Quitting smoking was one of the toughest things I've ever had to overcome in my life. My goal is to make young people aware that they should not begin smoking in the first place." 90 percent of all smokers begin before the age of 19 years old. 40 percent of smokers begin by the age of 14. Historically, the tobacco industry focused their marketing dollars on advertising their products to appeal to young people. Who can forget the ultra cool Joe Camel images or the rugged Marlboro Man campaigns?

Current anti-smoking prevention campaigns use scare tactics to relay their message to the adolescents of America. The problem with scare tactics is that young adults envision themselves as invincible. It is well known that a teenage smoker cannot truly envision themselves becoming sick due to smoking, because it is not in their scope of reality. Most young adults are unaware that 70 percent of today's smokers want to quit, but they can't because they are so addicted. Each day, there are 2,000 new adolescents becoming daily smokers.

It is extremely difficult to persuade young adults not to smoke. "An incredible amount of marketing must be done, so young people do not pickup the habit. Nabat states, "Freedom felt that by using a humorous animation it would help get young peoples' attention that they are blatantly being marketed to by the tobacco industry. The tobacco industry truly desires to attract young adolescents to smoke cigarettes. The younger a person gets hooked on cigarettes, the longer they will be a customer of their product. More people are quitting smoking each year, so the tobacco industry must attract new customers."

The trend is moving towards a healthier tomorrow. With a little luck and some word of mouth advertising Nabat hopes to spread Freedom's anti-smoking message to all corners of the globe.
