Good Samaritan Hospital Recognizes Community Need; Assumes Custody of Radiology Records and Files From Dr. Noah Weg

Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY, today announced an agreement to assume custody of the medical records and films from patients of Dr. Noah Weg, a local radiologist whose practice closed in July. With this agreement, patients will have full access to their imaging records through Good Samaritan, beginning Monday, September 12.

(PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- Good Samaritan Hospital today announced an agreement to assume custody of the medical records and films from patients of Dr. Noah Weg, a local radiologist whose practice closed in July. With this agreement, patients will have full access to their imaging records through Good Samaritan, beginning Monday, September 12.

Michael Schnieders, Executive Vice President and Administrator at Good Samaritan Hospital commented, "Good Samaritan Hospital recognized the need for Dr. Wegs former patients to have access to these records. In many cases, imaging records and films taken over time can be critical in determining treatment options that yield the best outcomes. Because we could see that many of Dr. Wegs former patients were understandably upset and anxious over this situation, we felt a community imperative to act quickly and decisively. These patients can now be reassured that their records will be treated with care and confidentiality, and be readily available when they need them."

Mr. Schnieders added that there is no need for Dr. Wegs patients to do anything at this point in time, as all of the records will be maintained and archived by Good Samaritan Hospital.

"We are pleased that we have been able to answer a community need by becoming stewards of these important records, ensuring that patients of Dr. Weg can have ready access to their films," said Mr. Schnieders.

Many of the records will be available through The Womens Health Center at Good Samaritan Hospital, a comprehensive center designed to offer a full range of screening and diagnostic test in one convenient location. Former patients of Dr. Weg can contact The Womens Health Center at (845) 368-5900 to schedule diagnostic services, including screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, bone densitometry and focal breast sonography.

Patients who wish to otherwise access their records should call a special number that has been set up at Good Samaritan Hospitals Radiology File Room to specifically handle requests from Dr. Wegs former patients, at (845) 368-5480.

Good Samaritan Hospital is a member of Bon Secours Health System, Inc., one of the nations leading Catholic healthcare systems. It is also part of the regional Bon Secours Charity Health System, which includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, New York. Additionally, Bon Secours Charity Health System provides the services of a Certified Home Health Agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs.
