Southwest makes it possible for customers to donate their Rapid Rewards Awards online.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- Once again, Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) Customers have shown their enormous hearts and asked the airline for a way to donate their Rapid Rewards Awards to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. In order to answer the multiple requests from its Customers, Southwest has developed a means to collect Rapid Rewards Awards from Customers wishing to donate travel. Southwest will be distributing the flight donations to those people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina, as well as to those working on the relief efforts.

Customers can donate their Rapid Rewards Awards by visiting http://www.southwest.com and accessing their Rapid Rewards account page via MySouthwest. Southwest cannot accept one-way credits. Members will be required to complete and submit a donation form for each Award contributed. Southwest Rapid Rewards Members can donate their Awards until Oct. 15, 2005.

"We've had an overwhelming response from Customers wanting to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina," said Colleen Barrett, Southwest Airlines President. "We've been feverishly working on a process that allows our Customers to donate their Rapid Rewards Awards to those in need."

Southwest Airlines has established a "flight bank" that is dedicated to assisting those displaced by Hurricane Katrina and needing transportation to reunite with family or to relocate. The donated Awards also will be used to assist those involved with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Southwest will be distributing the donated tickets at Evacuee locations throughout Texas. The airline is working with the Red Cross to identify locations that house those affected by Hurricane Katrina and to recognize those who have been diligently working on relief efforts.

Southwest Airlines, the nation's largest carrier in terms of domestic passengers enplaned, currently serves 60 cities in 31 states. Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 3,000 flights a day and has 31,000+ Employees systemwide.
