KUA Wins Regional Innovation Award

Kissimmee Utility Authority was honored by the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission as a recipient of the 2005 William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Award.

KISSIMMEE, Fla., (PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) on Sept. 14 was honored by the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission as the Osceola County recipient of the 2005 William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Award.

The award honors one company or individual in each Central Florida county who has successfully created, developed and implemented creative products and ideas. Successful innovation is one of the driving forces behind expanding and diversifying the economy.

KUA was recognized for its launch of a variety of services including speech-enabled, self-service software for telephone bill payment, live online customer chat to reduce hold times, text messaging to communicate power outages and a new Wi-Fi network that provides free Internet access to residents and businesses in downtown Kissimmee.

KUA was also singled out for its innovative partnerships which allow the utility to offer additional services like telephone and home security services.

"We are honored to be recognized as an innovator in Central Florida," said KUA president and general manager Jim Welsh. "We hold an ongoing commitment to introduce new products and services to the marketplace that improve customer satisfaction, retention and loyalty."

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
