Fastrax Ltd., a leading provider of open and portable OEM GPS Software Development Kit environments and programmable OEM GPS receivers, today announced the availability of the iTrax130 Development Kit for the iSuite 3 SDK. The new iTrax130 Development Kit adds support for selected Sony GPS chipsets to the iSuite 3 Software Development Kit.

Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2005 -- Fastrax Ltd., a leading provider of open and portable OEM GPS Software Development Kit environments and programmable OEM GPS receivers, today announced the availability of the iTrax130 Development Kit for the iSuite 3 SDK. The new iTrax130 Development Kit adds support for selected Sony GPS chipsets to the iSuite 3 Software Development Kit. Both the iSuite 3 Software Development Kit and the iTrax130 Development Kit have been licensed to Sony Corporation.

Fastrax iSuite technology is designed for rapid modification of the features and functionality of a GPS receiver, thus reducing the time to market and bill of materials cost of location-aware products. iSuite technology also enables remote on-the-fly reprogramming of GPS receiver firmware and application software. This can significantly decrease product maintenance costs and improve customer satisfaction.

With the announcement of the iTrax130 Development Kit, the iSuite 3 SDK becomes the only embedded GPS Software Development Kit available for multiple GPS chipset platforms. In addition to existing iTrax03 Development Kit for u-Nav Microelectronics GPS chipsets, iSuite SDK users now have several chipset options available for their application platform.

"We are very pleased to announce the new iTrax130 development kit for Sony-based GPS receivers. With multiple choices of software development kits for both iTrax03 and iTrax130 receiver families, the iSuite 3 SDK now provides even more powerful tools for embedded GPS application development," said Mr. Matti Räty, President/CEO, Fastrax.

Designed for high portability and easy application development, the iTrax130 Development Kit provides all the features of iSuite 3 software, in addition to full support for JTAG debugging. iTrax130 Development Kit users can utilize industrial-strength ARM® RealView Developer Suite and RealView® ICE development and debugging tools for efficient embedded software development.

The iTrax130 Development Kit for iSuite 3 SDK supports Sony CXD2951 and CXD2956+CXA3355 GPS chipsets and will be available by the end of 2005.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwide satellite navigation infrastructure funded and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense, originally developed for U.S. military purposes. GPS provides satellite signals that enable GPS receivers to calculate their exact position and velocity. The GPS infrastructure has three segments. The space segment consists of 24 satellites that orbit the earth every 12 hours. The control segment consists of tracking stations located around the world, with the master control station located at Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado. The user segment consists of GPS receivers and users utilizing the information provided by the system. GPS is widely used in applications such as marine navigation.
