ONS joint replacement specialist Dr. Frank A. Ennis is among a small but increasing number of orthopaedic surgeons in the New York metropolitan region with the necessary training and experience in computer-assisted surgery for total knee and hip replacement. Fellowship trained at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Dr. Ennis specializes in adult reconstructive surgery for the hip and knee, complex revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee, treatment of complications from hip fractures, and hip arthroscopy.

After completing post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Harvard University, Dr. Ennis graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Yale University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. During his fellowship training at New England Baptist Hospital he performed approximately 650 joint replacement surgeries including numerous computer assisted knee and hip replacements.
Computer Assisted Surgery
Computer assisted surgery for total knee replacement is the newest generation of technology in joint replacement. For the first time, surgeons are able to create a visual map of the knee via a highly precise image guidance system that allows the surgeon to see beyond what is possible with the naked eye. This enables the surgeon to achieve extremely accurate alignment of the implant for the patient. Using infrared cameras and digitized images, every aspect of the operation is tracked by computer including the surgical instrumentation and ultimately the positioning of the implant.
