(PRWEB) September 23, 2005 -- Writer J. Everett Prewitt, of Cleveland, Ohio, has won three additional awards for his debut novel, Snake Walker. The author was the winner in the African-American Fiction category for the Best Books 2005 literary contest given by USABookNews.com. Prewitt was also a finalist in the General Fiction category won by Amy Tan for her novel Saving Fish from Drowning, and a finalist in the Multicultural Fiction category. The author had previously won the Best Book for Fiction in the 2nd Annual Los Angeles Black Book Expo and was a semi-finalist in the Independent Publisher Book Awards-2005 in New York City.

Although Prewitt has written technical manuscripts utilized in real estate lectures across the country, Snake Walkers is his first work of fiction and has been well-received by reviewers, including Kaye Bache-Snyder of the Small Press Review, who wrote, Events twist and turn with surprises cracking like gun shots right to the end. (Prewitt) develops complex characters and a fascinating mystery with historical roots. It is an engaging novel with insights to ponder."

The first-time novelist is quoted as saying, I am gratified for the positive feedback Ive received from so many readers and reviewers. The book is now going into its second printing."

The novel tells the story of the first black reporter at a southern newspaper, who traumatized as a child after witnessing a tragic event in the 1950s, attempts to solve the mysterious abandonment of a small town and the disappearance of fourteen townspeople while seeking his own salvation.

J. Everett Prewitt is a Viet Nam veteran and former Army officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science Degree in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University. He was awarded the title of distinguished alumni at both schools. Prewitt lives in Cleveland, Ohio and is currently working on his next book, Two Wolves.
