CharlotteMusician.com Announces Local Music Contest

CharlotteMusician.com searches for the best unsigned bands (all genres) in the Charlotte area.

(PRWEB) September 25, 2005 -- CharlotteMusician.com is calling for unsigned and artists/bands of all genres to submit their best songs to compete for possible inclusion on the Uptown Sound, Volume 1 compilation CD. The contest seeks to promote the talent and the diversity of the Charlotte area music scene. The winners' music will appear on the compilation CD that will be distributed directly both to Charlotte music lovers and to local area press, radio, and music industry contacts. The compilation will not be sold. It will be given away directly to potential fans for free in an effort to give exposure to the best local music in the area. Winners will benefit from having their music promoted for them by CharlotteMusician.com and will be eligible to perform at a showcase following the CD release.

Brian Hartzog, founder of CharlotteMusician.com and a local artist himself, thinks local musicians will support the project. "First of all," says Hartzog, "The Uptown Sound compilation be given away for free. We're not trying to make any money on this. Secondly, our staff will work to promote all the bands who are on it. It's so hard to get your music heard these days, that I'm sure help with publicity will be a big incentive for musicians to enter. They'll hopefully make lots of new fans through our promotion efforts. Finally, the entries will be judged by our committee of local artists--folks who know both the craft and the effort it takes to create good music. We're looking for quality music, not how commercial a song is. We want to showcase the talent and individuality of our local scene."

The Uptown Sound, Volume 1 CD contest is open to Charlotte area unsigned bands and artists. Bands signed to label or publishing deals are not eligible. All entries must be original music and cannot contain illegally sampled material. The entry fee is $25 per song; entries must be received by October 31st. Complete rules and entry forms are available at http://www.charlottemusician.com and at music stores around the area. The Uptown Sound CD Sampler will be distributed around the Charlotte area in January 2006.
