New Fundraising Website Founded With Commitment to Raise Over $1 Million for Survivors of Hurricane Katrina

Recently launched, www.RestoreTheSpirit.com is a philanthropic website committed to fundraising for emergency relief efforts. Funds are raised through the sale of uniquely designed ribbon magnets and wristbands. The sites first initiative is to raise over $1 million to support survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Habitat for Humanity will be among the first to receive funds. Fundraising partnerships with churches and other non-profits are also being developed.

Marietta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 29, 2005 -- Small business owner Jim DeLaMater recently launched RestoreTheSpirit.com, a philanthropic website committed to raising funds for emergency relief efforts. Funds are raised through the sale of popular ribbon magnets and wristbands showing support for different causes. The sites first initiative is to raise over $1 million to support survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Keeping product and administrative costs low, RestoreTheSpirit.com has pledged no less than 90% of the proceeds raised to charitable organizations. Atlanta Habitat for Humanity along with other locally based charities serving Katrina Survivors will be the first to receive funds raised by the website.

DeLaMater says, "My marketing and entrepreneurial experience as well as my strong faith and interest in helping people will help ensure success for www.RestoreTheSpirit.com." At the University of Illinois, DeLaMater earned a Bachelors degree in Social Work, and at his self-owned firm, DataNation Marketing, he has fine-tuned his skills for promoting a cause. I have always wanted to create something great to give back to our community…now I am counting on a whole lot of good people to see the value of supporting this mission."

He has designated Atlanta Habitat for Humanity as the first recipient of funds because of their established program for providing affordable homeownership opportunities, and because they hope to build homes for families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. He was attracted by their slogan, Building houses, building hope," because it dovetails perfectly with his vision to promote hope and restore the spirits of Hurricane Katrina survivors and the survivors of other disasters to come. Since a great number of families were displaced and will likely move out-of-state, www.RestoreTheSpirit.com hopes to help families rebuild their lives wherever they may settle, beginning with the city of Atlanta. As popularity of the website grows and fundraising increases, other charitable organizations will be included among the recipients of funds.

Currently on the website, there are just two products for sale: purple and silver ribbon magnets and purple and silver wristbands, both of which proclaim, GULF COAST…RESTORE THE SPIRIT!" Depending on demand, DeLaMater may add additional items in the future. All products are made in America and are offered in quantities from 1 to 100 or more.

DeLaMater hopes to help nationwide through donations to organizations such as schools, civic groups and churches that wish to raise Gulf Coast Relief money for specific families. He is positioned to sustain fund raising throughout the cleanup and rebuilding phases, post Katrina, and then to continue fundraising for future catastrophe relief. RestoreTheSpirit.com will pay designated charities the second Tuesday of each month, beginning October 12, 2005, and images of checks will be posted on www.RestoreTheSpirit.com. Organizations that wish to coordinate fundraising events or be considered as a recipient of funds should contact DeLaMater at 770-795-7900.
