Progressive Democrats Announce Event to Help Stop the War in Iraq

On October 16th, 2005 at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, 1419 North Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, California, The Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains will host a lively event featuring Joyce Riley, author, co-producer and narrator of Beyond Treason as the featured speaker.

(PRWEB) September 24, 2005 -- On October 16th, 2005 at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, 1419 North Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, California, The Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains will host a lively event featuring Joyce Riley, author, co-producer and narrator of Beyond Treason as the featured speaker.

Stephanie Miller, Nationally-syndicated talk show host and a rising star in progressive radio and KPFK Talk Show Host of Connect the Dots, Lila Garrett, a famous writer, producer, and director of many old situation comedies who won 2 Emmy's and the Writer's Guild Award have both confirmed their appearances as guest speakers.

Confirmed entertainment includes Will b. and the Billionaires for Bush, and possibly other surprise celebrity appearances.

Melanie Kareem and her troop will perform an Afghan dance.

Music is being coordinated by Noel Rhodes, pre-production planning and advice is being provided by Jackie Kane.

The event will begin at 1 pm and last until 5 pm with lunch served to those guests paying $350 per couple, $200 per person. Poached Salmon, Chicken Kabob, assorted side dishes and deserts will be served along with wine and other libations and is included in the ticket price along with preferred valet parking. Catering is being provided by Nancy Wynn.

There will be a live and silent auction during the event featuring such items as celebrity luncheons, artwork from 20th Century Masters, including works by Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, and Renoir sponsored by the Andrew Weiss Gallery, jewelry, massage and other items being donated by various groups of strong dedicated supporters of the Progressive Democratic movement in Topanga.

The goal of the event is to raise $30,000 for the PDSMM organization with the proceeds to be allocated toward stopping the current war in Iraq, supporting anti-war pro-peace political candidates, and other Progressive Democratic platform issues.
