Adversity was the beginning of Kimberly’s journey to bring her wellspring of information to others, to realize their potential comes from her experience to overcome obstacles and regain health. While putting herself through law school she competed in triathlons at a professional level. In 1982, as a second year law student she was hit by a car during a bike race, she was severely injured. A physical therapist introduced Kimberly to Ivenger yoga. This practice helped her heal and realign her body, aiding in her recovery. She was back in the game.
Just back on her feet in 1983 she was diagnosed with a terminal and inoperable brain tumor. Walking out of the hospital she was determined to prove her doc’s hopeless diagnosis wrong. Her evolving yoga practice became the center of her recovery. They said she wouldn’t make 30, her only mantra was ”mind over matter”, I believe in my power for change. I don’t believe in doctors, I believe in me”.

Not knowing the extent of her injuries (multiple broken ribs, a punctured lung, severe kidney damage) she stayed centered by following her breath and managed to climb down the mountain for help.
